Giant Robot

I work in Farringdon. Alas, it is not well-known for its burger joints.*

But in July 2013, bar and diner, Giant Robot, put the Rotary burger centre-stage on their menu.

In fact, they pinched it (with permission I’m sure), from the Rotary diner – a now-closed pop up diner near Old Street. And it’s easy to see why the did it: it’s delicious. So delicious in fact, we all had one.

Created and designed by Carl Clarke, the Rotary Burger consists of a 35-day aged beef and bone marrow patty, cheddar, cider vinegar pickled onions, lettuce and Carl’s ‘special bun sauce’, all in a demi-brioche bun.

The meat was a generous thick cut and incredibly tender. The cheddar was perfectly melted with the pickled onions placed on top. It was a good sized burger too – decent portions of everything and easily edible with two hands. The full extent of the ‘special bun sauce’ may have been lost on me, but I did like the stickiness that the sesame-seeded brioche bun had to it.

Full of the gooey goodness I like, I let the juicy drip onto my fries. The chips were good too: maybe a little soggy for some people, but I kinda like them that way.

It was incredibly moreish. I finished it and thought about ordering another one. So I did…

  1. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb
usability and appearance. I must say you have done a amazing job
with this. Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Opera.
    Exceptional Blog!
