Now this one’s a funny one. I’ve been to Lazy Bones a couple of times and whilst I’ve never been particularly impressed by the grub, I keep going back. I like the decor, the look of the menu (slow meats, wings, dogs and freshly popped corn – what’s not to like?!) and the general vibe.
The food, like the restaurant, looks good. Actually, it looks REALLY good. I ordered the chilli brisket burger with fries, and, like I said, it looked REALLY good.
The brisket was mashed up beautifully, with great dollops of sour cream and green salsa, topped with fresh red chillies and a surprisingly large sprig of parsley.
You know how people say, ‘never judge a book by it’s cover’? Well that phrase also rings true here. Whilst the chilli brisket burger at Lazy Bones looks mouth-watering, it’s actually really flavourless and dull. I actually considered asking for salt to sprinkle over the meat so I could taste something!
I was, needless to say, bitterly disappointed. And if the lack of succulence in the meat wasn’t enough, the top bun was like some dry, over-stuffed padding. Just look at the size of it!
So whilst I wouldn’t recommend the chili brisket burger, I would, for some reason unbeknownst to me, still go back to try the rest of the menu. But this isn’t a restaurant review, it’s a burger one. Sorry Lazy Bones.
